Not all pumps are the same, and different types have different strengths and weaknesses. This is just a quick outline of the different types available and what important features that you need to look for, but armed with this knowledge, you should be able to find a pump that suits your needs, fits your budget, and keeps your bilge as water-free as possible!
The Different Bilge Pump Types
For small vessels, a hand pump is fine, but for bigger watercraft, an electric 12v bilge pump will be better. Electric pumps come in a couple of different styles. For the most part, how they operate isn’t that important but we’ll mention the two types before carrying on with the buying guide.
