The Amadea Yacht was built by German shipyard Lurssen, makers of many of the most high-profile superyachts at sea today. Like many others, this was purchased by a Russian oligarch and, as such, fell victim to sanctions that were imposed after Russia invaded Ukraine.

In 2022, Amadea was seized by authorities in Fiji after they determined it had ties to certain Russian officials for whom the sanctions applied. After an investigation, the Fijian government allowed American authorities to seize the vessel.

Before all that, she was one of the sea’s most eye-catching and luxurious yachts. While her future may be uncertain, we can still tell you more interesting facts about her design and features.

Who is the Amadea Yacht Owner?

The current owner of the mega yacht Amadea is believed to be Russian businessman Suleiman Kerimov. Kerimov is a politician and billionaire who made his fortune investing in some of Russia’s major, high-profile companies like Gazprom and Uralkali. It’s believed his future is around $11 billion.

How Much Did the Yacht Amadea Cost?

It’s believed that Kerimov spent a whopping $325 million on the Amadea in 2017. While this does not put it in the running for the most expensive yacht in the world by any means, it’s still clearly a costly vessel.

Can You Charter the Motor Yacht Amadea?

Unfortunately, the Amadea is not available for charter. That wouldn’t be a current option since US authorities seized the vessel; however, even before that, Kerimov was not making it available for yacht charter, either.

How Big is the Amadea Yacht?

Though not the largest yacht in the world, the Amadea is still impressive. She clocks in at 348 feet in length and has a 60-foot beam—her gross tonnage measures 4,402 with a draft of just 13.5 feet.

There is enough space on board for 16 guests and 36 crew to ensure everything runs smoothly.

How Fast is the Amadea Yacht, and What Engines Does it Use?

The Amadea is powered by diesel MTU (20V 4000 M93L) 5,766hp engines. These provide a cruising speed of 13 knots. However, the vessel can reach a maximum speed of 20 knots with a range of up to 8,000 nautical miles from her 392,000-liter fuel tanks.

Interior Design and Features of the Yacht Amadea

While Lurssen built the yacht in German, the exterior of the vessel was designed by Espen Oeino, a popular choice for many of today’s luxury yachts. The interior, however, was handled by French design house Zuretti.

The yacht features a steel hull over an aluminum superstructure and teak decks. The vessel has five decks, which can be accessed through an elevator. The interior boasts eight guest suites for 16 passengers, one of which is a VIP cabin, as well as a full-beam main suite. Of the remainder, 5 are doubles, and one is a twin. The master suite features abundant sea views through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows and has its own study and dressing room and9 his and her bathrooms.

Amenities

Like any suitable superyacht, the Amadea has many luxurious amenities to make your stay memorable. Let’s check out some of the more impressive ones.

  • A large helipad on the foredeck is one of the most easily noticed features from the vessel’s exterior.
  • Towards the main deck aft, you’ll find a massive swimming pool with a mosaic tile floor.
  • In addition to the pool, there’s also a massive swim platform.
  • A fully equipped gym for working out
  • A well-appointed beauty salon
  • A movie theater located bridge deck aft with a retractable screen and projector also features D-Box technology. The sofas move and vibrate along with the movies while you watch.
  • A massive party deck designed with mind-blowing 20,000-watt speakers, lasers, lights, and a stage that can be used for musicians or DJs when a party is planned.
  • There’s a teppanyaki grill, a rotisserie, and a hog roaster for those looking to eat. Even more remarkable, the yacht has a crane to lower all that onto the beach for a beach BBQ.
  • The top deck galley is open-concept and even features a lobster tank
  • A wine cellar with a humidor
  • A firepit
  • A private owner’s saloon
  • Above the spa pool on the owner’s deck, there’s a panorama of the night sky with all the zodiac signs featuring 2,000 fiber optic cables to make it light up like a clear night sky.
  • In the tender garage, you’ll find a limo tender, a Pascoe beach lander, and a Cabrio sports boat, known on board as the “boss boat.”

The Bottom Line

Russian oligarch Suleyman Kerimov owns the yacht Amadea. It’s estimated he spent $325 million on the yacht in 2017 and that the annual operating costs can be as much as $25 million.

The vessel measures an impressive 348 feet in length and can reach a top speed of 20 knots. She features a wide array of luxurious amenities, including unique features like the party deck with its incredible sound system that can probably be heard from miles around if it’s ever operated at total volume.

In 2022, the vessel was seized by authorities in Fiji as part of ongoing sanctions against Russian officials due to the war in Ukraine. Other yachts like Dilbar and those owned by Roman Abramovich have also been seized. American authorities reportedly found a Faberge egg on board when they took custody of the vessel. The eggs were created in Russia between 1885 and 1917 and are considered some of the most noteworthy art pieces from that period. The egg alone could be worth tens of millions of dollars if it’s real.Â
